One of Swansea's most popular foodie events, the Swansea Street Food Festival, is set to return this spring - and it will be bigger than ever, organisers say. The family-friendly festival will be returning to Museum Park on Easter weekend, Friday, March 29, to Monday, April 1, and will have 30+ street food traders, several bars serving draught beers, cocktails and soft drinks, a stage with live music and entertainment, and a large seating area which will be bigger than in previous years.
Visitors will be able to "explore cuisines from all over the world," organisers say, with dishes from India, Vietnam, Thailand, Morocco, Mexico, Afghanistan, the Caribbean, and Uzbekistan among the tantalising meals, tasty snacks and sweet treats to be served up at stalls across the site. Organisers aim for this year's festival to be "greener" than previously and say they've stepped up their commitment to sustainability by introducing reusable Street Food Festival cups. "We've always tried to keep our festivals as accessible as possible whilst considering our environmental impact which is why this year every adult ticket will include a £2 charge for a reusable cup, helping us reduce single-use plastic. Simply bring your cup to the bar and we can refill it as many times as you like," a spokesperson for Swansea Street Food Festival said. Sharing what visitors can expect from the festival this year, an initial statement from organisers said: "New Year, New Flavours, New Flow. Each year we are thinking of new ways to improve our festivals for our customers, traders and staff, so this year we have implemented some changes to ensure a smoother, tastier, greater festival than before!
"Smoother entry: To improve the flow of the festival we have made changes to our systems by introducing arrival time slots. These reduce wait times and queues, minimise crowds and also guarantee entry to the festival in your allocated slot (adherent to arrival time restrictions). Priority access for those with accessibility needs.
"Larger space: We are back at our OG [original] location of Museum Park, but this time with an extended amount of space to fit in all you street food lovers. Higher capacity: With even more space this means we can increase our capacity numbers to cater for the growing number of foodies! Bigger bars: We will have more bars and serving points at the festival, so you can fill up your cups quicker and keep the drinks flowing!
"We love dogs: Your (well-behaved) furry friends are welcome."
