Former Wales rugby international and 2005 Grand Slam winner Dafydd Jones has admitted to drink-driving. He appeared at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
On January 11, 2024, the former Scarlets and Wales player got behind the wheel of a Ford Ranger on the A40 at Bancyfelin while over the limit. He was found with 71mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, more than double the legal limit of 35mg.
Jones, 44, whose address was given as Llwynhenry and Porthyrhyd, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol. He was banned from driving for 18 months, which can be reduced if he completes a course by January 2025.

He was fined £692. The magistrates also ordered him to pay costs and a surcharge totalling £362, which must be paid in full by March 26, 2024. Get the latest news by signing up for our Rugby newsletter.
Jones' rugby career saw him make more than 40 appearances for Wales, during which he won the Grand Slam. He retired in 2011 and has worked as a pundit for S4C.
