Train lines were closed and services were cancelled or delayed after a person was found dead on the tracks near Pyle station on Sunday.

British Transport Police temporary chief inspector Jon Redman said: “Officers were called to the line close to Pyle station at 10.35am following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the person’s death.”

Train services were cancelled, delayed, or revised for several hours with disruption lasting well into the afternoon. Line between Bridgend and Swansea re-opened shortly before 3pm but residual delays were still expected.

All lines have now reopened

Emergency services have now completed their work near Baglan, and all lines have reopened.

Whilst service recovers, trains running between Bridgend and Swansea may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised, National Rail says.
