Placheta - there's more to come

Swansea City's Przemyslaw Placheta has promised there's more to come following his promising full debut at Hull City on Saturday.

The Poland international started from the off at the MKM Stadium for the first time since his debut off the bench against Plymouth last week, and duly impressed on the left of midfield.

His performance impressed plenty of onlookers, including the travelling Jack Army, who were treated to the first league win of the Luke Williams era on Humberside. But despite impressing, Placheta insists there's more to come.

“For my first start, to end like this is great," he said. "I am buzzing to be honest, for this win and for the hard work everyone put in on the pitch right until the end,” he said.

“You could see it was not a great pitch, but we played well, we created chances and we were good from set-pieces, so we have to be pleased with the performance. And in the Championship you know you are going to have to defend well, and everyone has to play their part in that, and we all did.

“But I think we can look forward now, we played well but we all feel we can play much, much better if we work hard and continue to improve.

“There is big potential in this team. I hope I will get much, much better too. I know I can do it, but I am very happy to have made my first start for the team and to have been part of a win.”

DJ poised for return

Daniel Farke says Daniel James is in contention to return to his Leeds United squad for Tuesday night's Championship clash with Swansea City.

The Wales international has been sidelined with a hip problem since the 1-0 win over Norwich City in January, but could now be in line to face his former employers. Sam Byram, however, looks set to miss out.

"Dan James is back in team training and is available," Farke said on Monday. "It's definitely good news to have Daniel back. It's good to have another really good option. He's a key player.

"Sam Byram has reported some minor muscle injury after the last game. He will definitely miss this game. We will wait for the scan. He will definitely not be involved. It is not his hamstring where he was injured. It is the other leg. We are quite hopeful he is back at the weekend."

Cullen relishing central role

Swansea City striker Liam Cullen says he's relishing the opportunity to play a more central role under Luke Williams, following his heroics at Hull City on Saturday.

The Wales international turned home his fifth goal of the season to hand his side a 1-0 win over the top-six challengers, and started in a more traditional out-and-out centre-forward position - a role he clearly enjoys.

“I had chats with the gaffer and staff about playing more central,” he said. “It’s the position I’ve grown up playing, and it’s the position that’s got me to where I am today.

“I never have a problem playing any position, especially for this club, I’ll do the best I can wherever I’m played, but I feel at my best and most comfortable through the middle as a number nine.

“That’s where you get the most chances, it’s your job to be there for those chances and put the ball in the net. Hopefully that’s the start of a good run of games and goals for me playing in that position. And hopefully I can be one of the players that helps put us in a good position, and helps us go on a good run.”
