Ramsey to start?

Cardiff boss Erol Bulut says he could hand Aaron Ramsey his first start in five months after the Wales captain returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Having been out with a knee injury sustained in training after the 2-0 win over Swansea in September, Ramsey has been eased back into the fold, making appearances off the bench in the Bluebirds' defeats to Preston and West Bromwich Albion. He made his long-awaited return at half-time at Deepdale at the weekend before getting another half an hour under his belt against the Baggies on Tuesday night.

But the midfielder could now make his first Bluebirds start of 2024 against Norwich this weekend, with Bulut saying he was "feeling good" after his cameo at The Hawthorns.

"Aaron was many months out and he is trying really, really hard,” Bulut said after Tuesday's 2-0 defeat. "He could start at the weekend, we never know, we will have to wait and see.

“After the last game where he played 45 minutes he was feeling good and after tonight he was also feeling good.”

Daley-Campbell joins Posh

Vontae Daley-Campbell has signed for Peterborough United.

The defender, who was released by the Bluebirds earlier this month, had been training with Posh since becoming a free agent. He has penned a deal until the end of the season.

Daley-Campbell said: "I know a few of the lads already like Kwame Poku and Josh Knight and that has helped me settle in, but to be honest, I have been in and around the dressing room in the last week or so and everybody has made me feel very welcome.

"It is a good opportunity for me and a bit of a no-brainer to come and sign for this club. The manager trusts me and I want to repay that trust. As a right-back, you are required to do both sides of the game, defend and obviously get forward and support the attack and I try to do the best I can to do that.

"There are a lot of good players at the club, hopefully I can support them for the rest of the season and try and make an impact. I want to kick on in my career now and I feel this is a good club to do that with.”

Posh boss Darren Ferguson added: "He is another good option for us at right-back and he is different to what we have. He is a quick powerful player with a real opportunity to show what he can do.

"He likes to get forward and attack and I am pleased to have him on board. He needs a game or two to get up to full fitness, but he has settled in well.”

Alnwick injured

However, one player not making the trip to Carrow Road on Saturday is goalkeeper Jak Alnwick, with Bulut confirming that he has suffered a knee injury.

The knock will likely only keep the 30-year-old out of action for a matter of days, but ruled him out of the visit to West Brom, with January signing Ethan Horvath making his debut between the sticks in his place.

“Jak got injured on his knee, a ligament problem," explained Bulut at full-time at The Hawthorns. "I think one week or 10 days he will be out."

Horvath - a deadline-day loan signing from Nottingham Forest - was neat on the ball against the Baggies, but didn't exactly set the world alight, picking the ball out of his net inside the first minute before Andreas Weimann sealed the win for the hosts late on.

U21s seal derby win

Teenage star Cian Ashford scored both of Cardiff U21's goals in their 2-1 win over Bristol City on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old forward, who last month signed a new long-term deal with the Bluebirds having joined the club's academy aged six, opened the scoring in the first half at the Robins High Performance Centre, firing into the roof of the net.

Bristol then responded shortly after half-time with Kai Churchley’s deflected effort flying past Rohan Luthra in the visitors' goal. But a fine solo effort from Ashford won Cardiff the game as he tore through the Robins' midfield before finishing coolly just before the hour mark.

It is the U21s' first win of 2024, having lost to QPR and Bournemouth and been held to a goalless draw with Watford so far this year.
