Josh Marsh will leave Swansea City to become loans manager at Chelsea.

The Swans' head of football operations joined in June 2022 from fellow Championship side Huddersfield Town, however there has been a cloud hanging over his position since Paul Watson joined the club as sporting director last summer.

Marsh, who landed the job shortly after the exit of former sporting director Mark Allen, has had a big hand in player recruitment since joining, however Watson's arrival last year appeared to start the clock ticking on Marsh's time at the club.

Swansea fans have aimed criticism at the club's work in the last couple of transfer windows under former Luton Town chief Watson, with some struggling to see a clear player recruitment strategy.

Last summer, chairman Andy Coleman moved to release a statement saying he was "extremely disappointed" by media reports that both Julian Winter and Marsh were to leave the club.

Winter subsequently left the club and is now CEO at Blackpool, while Marsh is also poised to leave nine months later to help manage Chelsea's players who are out on loan. Swansea currently have Chelsea's Bashir Humphreys on loan.
