Amy Dowden has shared details of a recent spa day with her husband Benjamin Jones. The Strictly Come Dancing professional told how the break was very much needed after a "really rough" couple of days with a nasty cough.

The Welsh-born star revealed the spa day, which was at the award-winning Hoar Cross Hall hotel in Staffordshire, was an early Valentine's Day celebration as she has a hospital appointment on Wednesday, February 14. Sharing relaxing pictures of the pair in fluffy white robes, Amy told her Instagram followers: "After feeling really rough the last few days (nasty cough) thank you for a lovely spa day today Ben."

In another snap, Amy beamed as she sat in a rattan-hanging egg in her dressing gown and added: "An early Valentine's treat as Wednesday is a hospital day for me."

Amy shared another picture of a serene-looking pool area complete with atmospheric blue lights as she thanked her husband and said: "It was the perfect day, thank you, Ben."

Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in May last year after finding a lump days before her honeymoon. She underwent a mastectomy in July and took 2023 off from Strictly Come Dancing while she underwent treatment.

Throughout her diagnosis and treatment, the 33-year-old has remained open and honest in a bid to raise awareness and help others. In a post marking World Cancer Day earlier this month, Amy said: "Today is World Cancer day! Let’s keep raising awareness and hopefully one day help find a cure.

"The day I heard the words sorry Amy, it’s cancer, my life changed forever. I’m grateful for the care I receive, the NHS and incredible staff, my friends and family and that I’m still here and have a different look on life. Make the most of every day, everyone, every opportunity and live life to the full or as I learnt on my journey, ‘go grab life’. Please help raise awareness and one day help find a cure to help those suffering . I’m sending all my Welsh love to all affected by cancer."
