South Wales Police have issued a fresh statement on the deaths of a man and woman whose bodies were found at a property in Port Talbot. Following what was described as a welfare concern, officers from South Wales Police attended an address on Rhodes Avenue at around 9am on Monday, February 5.

After entering, they discovered the bodies of a 34-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man. An investigation was launched and there was a high police presence in the area throughout Monday. Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news

Forensics officers also attended the scene and there remained a smaller police presence on Tuesday morning. Police said then they were treating the deaths as "unexplained".

Now, in an update on Wednesday, South Wales Police said: "The deaths of a 40-year-old man and 34-year-old woman at an address on Rhodes Avenue, Port Talbot, are not being treated as suspicious, and the next of kin have been informed."
