Police have found a body in a river in their search for a missing 78-year-old man. Keith Williams was reported missing at 3.07am on Saturday, February 10.

South Wales Police found a body in the Taff Bargoed river near Treharris on Sunday morning. Formal identification has not been taken place but officers believe it to be that of Mr Williams, and his family has been informed.

Officers have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time. In an update shortly after 11.40am on Sunday, February 11, a South Wales Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a body has been recovered from the Taff Bargoed river following a search this morning, Sunday, February 11.

"While formal identification is yet to take place, we believe we have found missing Keith Williams. Keith’s family have been made aware and we ask that their privacy be respected at this time."

Police had announced they were searching the river between Mill Street and Glyn Bargoed Road at 11.05am. The public were thanked for their co-operation and patience as the search was carried out.
