A South Wales Police spokesperson confirmed: "We were called to a report of a 14-year-old boy in possession of a knife at Cefn Saeson Comprehensive School at around 9.30am on Thursday 1st February. The boy, a pupil at the school, has been spoken to in the presence of his guardians."
In a joint statement, Neath Port Talbot Council and Cefn Saeson headteacher David Cole said: "A brief incident occurred outside Cefn Saeson School this week which South Wales Police attended however the police decided no action by them was necessary and that the matter could be dealt with by the school.
