A person is missing several days after a fire in a village in Carmarthenshire. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to the incident at an address in the village of Meidrim at around 11.56pm on Thursday, February 8.

Fire crews were responding to a two-storey detached property that was "well alight" upon arrival. Dyfed-Powys Police also confirmed that they were called to the scene during the early hours of Friday morning, February 9.

Crews from Carmarthen, Ammanford, Whitland, Tumble, Pontiets, Haverfordwest, Cardigan, as well as a search and rescue team, attended the scene. According to the emergency service, crews utilised one hose reel jet, two breathing apparatus sets, one triple-extension ladder and lighting to extinguish the fire. The police force confirmed that the fire had been extinguished, however the damage to the property was "extensive" and "unsafe" to enter. They also confirmed that one person remained unaccounted for. The road to the property is closed while investigations are carried out by police officers and the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service investigators to establish the cause of the fire.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews responded to a two-storey detached property that was well alight on arrival. While the incident was ongoing crews from Carmarthen, Ammanford, Whitland, Tumble, Pontiets, Haverfordwest and Cardigan, as well as the Search and Rescue Team, attended the scene.

"Crews utilised one hose reel jet, two breathing apparatus sets, one triple-extension ladder and lighting to extinguish the fire. There has been significant damage to the property and it is unsafe to enter. One person remains unaccounted for.

"Crews will work with Dyfed-Powys Police personnel to establish the cause of the fire. The road to the property is closed while investigations continue."
