A tapas restaurant in North Wales has confirmed it will be closing. The Midland in Conwy will close its doors tomorrow as a result of the cost of living crisis and lack of business rates support, its owners say.
The Midland restaurant in Beaumaris, Anglesey is not affected. They confirmed the sad news in a statement.
They said: "With profound regret, we must announce the closure of our Midland Conwy restaurant from Sunday 11th February. This difficult decision has been looming over us, exacerbated by the cost of living crisis that has notably impacted the hospitality sector and, in turn, our valued patrons."

"The impending reduction in support for business rates by the Welsh Assembly Government from April compounds our challenges, effectively doubling our business rates amidst a significant rent hike by our landlord. Such circumstances have made it increasingly challenging to sustain our operations in Conwy, " North Wales Live reported.
"In light of these challenges, we believe focusing our efforts on our Anglesey locations is the most viable path forward to preserve the broader family business and safeguard the jobs of our dedicated staff."
"Our heartfelt gratitude extends to our Conwy staff and customers for their unwavering support. Your patronage and the memories we've created together have been the highlights of our journey.
