McDonald's has announced the Breakfast Wrap is back after having to pull the popular item from sale just days after it was relaunched. Last Month McDonald's announced it was bringing back the breakfast item which was axed in 2020.
But this weekend the chain had to pull the wrap from its menus across the country because the restaurant chain was concerned that there was so much demand for it that they won't have enough breakfast ingredients to stock the rest of their early morning menu.
A spokesperson said: "Due to an unprecedented demand, McDonald's has had to temporarily remove the Breakfast Wrap from the menu, to avoid running out of all wider breakfast items."
Late on Monday McDonald's announced the wrap is now back again from Tuesday morning. A spokesman said: "Previously the breakfast wrap had to be pulled due to Wrap from the menu, to avoid running out of all wider breakfast items. But no more!"
They added: "McDonald’s most talked about food launch of 2024, The Breakfast Wrap, was on a temporary hiatus over the weekend due to unprecedented demand. However, it will be officially back in restaurants on Tuesday 13 February!"
The wrap is now back on sale at £4.39 or £5.89 in a meal with a drink and hash brown.
The wrap contains almost all the ingredients found in other breakfast items - including two free-range eggs, a pork sausage patty, a slice of bacon, a crispy potato rosti and cheese.
McDonald's chose to bring back the wrap after claiming fans had begged for the wrap to make a comeback and said there were 22 petitions to bring it back, as well as 5,000 direct messages sent to the company's social media accounts.
Both bagels and the wraps were removed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, as McDonald's ran a limited menu when they first re-opened stores after lockdown. Even as other menu items returned when the chain began offering its full menu again, the bagels and wraps were kept off.
