As the cost of living continues to rise, many people are thinking back to simpler times, when life seemed more affordable. Recently, shoppers were left reminiscing about the days of budget supermarket Kwik Save, after a man found an old receipt from the shop dating back to 1995.

Chris Eyres, from Prenton, discovered it in a box which belonged to his late mother, according to the Liverpool Echo.

For decades, Kwik Save was a familiar fixture on the nation's high streets and was famous for its 'No Frills' line of own brand products. The first store opening in Rhyl in 1959 and the chain continued to expand, with more than 800 stores across the UK by the mid-1990s. But in 2007, Kwik Save entered administration, marking the end of an era.

The Kwik Save receipt Mr Eyres found was printed on October 26, 1995 at a branch on Stanley Road in Birkenhead. Paying in cash at the time, Chris' mum purchased 38 items for the price of £24.79.
