Tickets to Glastonbury Festival often sell out in less than an hour each year and the standard ticket costs a whopping £360 plus a booking fee. But there is a way to get into Glastonbury 2024 - and many other festivals - for free this summer.
The cost of getting a ticket to the festival has risen £75 in two years, making it too expensive so some people. However, with just a little work, you could enter not just Glastonbury Festival 2024 for free, but the likes of Reading and Leeds Festivals, Latitude, Download and the Isle of Wight Festival too.
Various charities work alongside the iconic Somerset festival, including Oxfam, WaterAid, Greenpeace and Shelter. They provide support by getting volunteers to manage the gates, shops and even hire campaigners to spread the Oxfam message during the event - meaning you can enter the festival for free by doing some volunteering work.
On the volunteer scheme, Oxfam says is it seeking 8,500 volunteers for this year's festival. A statement on its website reads: "You can choose to be a steward and provide directions to the festival-going public, check wristbands, or patrol campsites and arenas.
"Or be a campaigner, engaging with the public about Oxfam's work. Or you can volunteer in one of our festival shops providing festival-goers with the latest fashions donated by our amazing supporters."
The charity even offers music fans the opportunity to mingle amongst the golden ticket holders by paying a refundable deposit. On top of this, volunteers get fed and watered, a space at Oxfam's own less busy car park and access to the charity's own toilets and showers.
How to apply:
Applications to apply to be a volunteer steward open at 11am, February 1. You can sign up to steward with just a few clicks, here.
Stewarding positions are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, making it accessible for anyone to sign up as long as there are available spots - so you'll need to act fast. Applications to be a campaigner open on February 8 and can be done here, while you can apply to be a shop volunteer here from the same date.
You don't have to have any previous charity work experience, all you need to be is 18 years of age or older, willing to work and are a UK/EU/EEA citizen, or have the right to work here. Last year, Oxfam festival campaigners helped gather a record-breaking 46,000 petition signatures and shop staff prevented over 9 tonnes of clothing from ending up in landfills.
