With the very exciting news that Gavin & Stacey is reported to return for a Christmas special, Steffan Rhodri, aka Dave Coaches in the sitcom's first three series, was quizzed over whether the show was returning. After chatting about The Way, which is fellow Welsh star Michael Sheen's debut in directing, Steffan could not avoid questions about Gavin & Stacey from Morning Live hosts Gethin Jones and Michelle Ackerley. Gethin asked: "There is always a bit of a rumour about the show coming back, what is the latest?"

Swiftly answering the question, Steffan replied: "I heard there was a rumour, I never know where these rumours start and I certainly won't know anything about where they end. I'm afraid I have no knowledge to impart to you." Michelle joked: "We tried!"

Last year Steffan opened up about playing Dave while promoting the Steeltown Murders drama. He told WalesOnline that Dave was based on his Uncle John - by accident.

“I didn’t actually realise this, but he genuinely is based on my Uncle John,” said Steffan as our time quickly wound down on our interview. “He drove a bus and he grew up in Cardiff, not in Swansea, and he had a moustache. And I didn’t realise when I was doing him that really I was just impersonating John. And he loves it. I’ve seen him now in funerals and things, and I’ve said this in other interviews, and he’s quite chuffed.”
