Erol Bulut insisted he would stay positive despite a rotten run which has seen Cardiff City lose five of their last six matches.
The Bluebirds fell to a 2-0 defeat at West Brom on Tuesday night, with scoring once again proving a huge issue for this side. They were hit with a goal in the first minute from Mikey Johnston after Jamilu Collins allowed Tom Fellows around the back, before a counter-attack goal saw Andi Weimann tap in Jed Wallace's cross late on.
Cardiff had one golden chance at 1-0, with Kion Etete skying from just a couple of yards out, a miss which proved pretty costly in the grand scheme of things.
West Brom 2-0 Cardiff City: Johnston and Weimann strike to down Bluebirds at The Hawthorns
On the game, Bulut said: "It's difficult when you concede a goal in the first minute against West Brom, who are at home, with quality players. It's not easy but we pushed really hard, especially in the second half, we had chances to score and make it 1-1, with Kion and with Ramsey.
"If you don't score, it's normal that at the end they get the second one, because we were pushing to get the second one. We conceded the first goal easily, the concentration from the first second is important. We lost a one-v-one situation. Opponents, when they get those chances they are scoring and we are not scoring. This is the difference.
"We have the chances, but we are not scoring. It's difficult for us to score."
Cardiff changed tack at The Hawthorns from recent weeks. They went with five at the back with Yakou Meite and Famara Diedhiou up front, with an emphasis placed on getting more crosses into the box.
Despite drawing another blank, Bulut said he was happy with the altered shape of his team.
"I am satisfied," he added. "We played with a five, with wing-backs higher to press and stay more comfortable. So they can make the runs in behind to make a one against one.
"In general, it was quite good. We were just missing the goals from the chances we had. In the second half, to concede the goal, it was a problem. The opponent didn't have many chances, the shots on goal were the same (as us). But they scored two and we scored nothing."
Asked about whether the pace of his side's attacking play was an issue, he replied: "For sure. But it's not because of the shape we played. Even when I would play 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. We played 5-3-2 with two attackers so we could come more with the crosses.
"We had Fam (Famara Diedhiou) and Yak (Yakou Meite), so we could feed them. Maybe it was not enough, this we can say.
"We have scored goals with our defenders from set pieces. We don't have enough and this has to change. These chances that we do create, we are not scoring, this is one issue. We cannot say we don't create. We create but we are not finalising. This is about the individual player; whether this is the defender, midfielder or striker.
"The opponent had two chances, had a quality pass with timing and they scored. Small details and these small details decide about winning or losing. Right now it's negative a little bit."
The current malaise sees the Bluebirds sit 14th place in the table, with the play-off place now eight points away. Given the recent run of form, fans are understandably frustrated.
And Bulut gets it, but refuses to let his head drop.
"I am still thinking positively," he said. "I cannot think about negative things because these players made good things this season. Many of these players know the last two years and the situation that has been here. Now we cannot speak about the last two years, we are in a different way and a positive way.
"We have to think positive and my players have to work all together to get out of this situation. Until now, with these players, we did everything. Right now it's not easy to score goals, but we have to work on it."
