Dancing On Ice is not for the faint-hearted as Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas proved when he took to the famous ice rink with his professional partner Amani Fancy during Musicals Week. The 39-year-old took two tumbles during his performance, before picking himself up and carrying on.

The first fall saw Ryan's toe pick appear to get caught in the ice, he quickly recovered but shortly after lost his footing and tumbled again. Ryan got a score of 25 out of 40 from the judges, but before the presenters moved on to find out the judges' reasonings, Holly Willoughby briefly paused the show to check Ryan wasn't hurt.

She said: "Oh Ryan my heart goes out to you, it was going so so well, and then you just had those moments... just to check you haven't hurt yourself or anything like that."

"No I've not hurt myself," Ryan confirmed, before adding: "I just hope my kids aren't watching this one because it's very embarrassing." Holly then pointed out that the audience "willed him up on his feet" as Ryan thanked those supporting him and said it was the most important thing.

It was then on to the panel as guest judge Johnny Weir said: "First of all never be embarrassed by what you put out in front of people because it's performances like this that allow you to have brilliant performances later on," as Oti added: "I mean I know you fell and I know you are going to be really hard on yourself so I just want to say don't get in your head about that, I want to applaud you for getting up twice."

Ryan was flooded with support from fans, as one wrote: "Credit to Ryan for picking himself back up," while another added: "Poor Ryan, not many would get up and go again after two falls, apart from that really enjoyable performance."

While a third commented: "The love from the crowd for Ryan just then when he had his mishaps was heartwarming and brought a tear to my eye. Bravo to the audience."

As a fourth commented: "Poor Ryan! He’s such a good skater as well!! Bloody toe pick." For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
