Hollywood star Domhnall Gleeson heads up the cast of new Channel 4 romantic drama Alice & Jack. In the series, which begins on Wednesday, February 14, the 40-year-old plays a shy, gentle scientist who falls in love with a high-strung loner who works in finance.
The new role marks a return to television for Irish actor Domhnall, who has a number of successful film roles under his belt. These include appearances in the Star Wars and Harry Potter franchises, as well as About Time, Unbroken, Anna Karenina and Frank.
Domhnall is the son of a well-known actor whom he appeared alongside in the Harry Potter series. Will you be watching Alice & Jack? Let us know in the comments.

Domhnall’s father is Brendan Gleeson, who played Mad Eye Moody in the Harry Potter films. Brendan is also known for his roles in In Bruges, Braveheart, Gangs of New York and more recently The Banshees of Inisherin.
Brendan has three other sons: Fergus, Brian (also an actor who you may have seen in Apple TV's Bad Sisters), and Rory. Domhnall is perhaps the most well known of the Gleeson siblings.
In an April 2020 interview with The Guardian, Domhnall stated that it never crossed his mind to change his surname at the beginning of his career to stay out of his father's shadow. His reasoning was that his father was not as well known internationally at that time, and everyone in the Irish film industry already knew of their relationship.
Despite his huge success in Hollywood Domhnall has stayed close to home and still lives in Dublin, the city in which he was born. In the past he was rumoured to be dating film producer Juliette Bonass but it is not known if they are still an item.
Juliette met Domhnall during their days at the Dublin Institute of Technology and became friends. After they graduated, they worked together on different projects, and she has always admired him. She has previously said: "I've worked with him before. And done a couple of shorts with him, and comedy sketches with him for charity. Isn't he doing great? Amazing, yeah. He's very successful [...] really hard working. He was working as an actor even when we were in fourth year."
Domhnall has never publicly discussed his dating life or confirmed his relationship with Juliette. "I find it strange that people want to know about those aspects of my life. And then I also find it odd that I'm quite so defensive about it," he’s said in the past.
