A celebrity makeup artist has showered one of Aldi's beauty products with praise, describing it as "really good". Besides groceries, the budget supermarket is also well known for its affordable skincare and beauty rage, Lacura.
Many shoppers opt for Lacura products since they are often 'just as good' or 'almost identical' to high-end, luxury versions that already exist, but cost a lot more. One of the brand's latest products to hit shelves is the new Dramatic Lash Mascara.
The mascara will be available to buy for £4.99 in stores nationwide from February 25 - just over ten days. The cruelty-free makeup essential was recently hailed by professional makeup artist Safia Cox.
Speaking to the Mirror, she said: "This is a really good mascara, it's giving your eyelashes a lot of length as well as volume, and the wand shape means there will be no clumps. It's getting each individual lash."
According to Aldi, the new mascara is designed with a rich and creamy formulation and offers a smooth application. Its grooved bristles and full-bodied brush will help separate and define lashes.
Priced at just £4.99, shoppers can achieve naturally voluminous and fuller-looking lashes for less with savings of 86% (£3.84 per ml) compared to the ever popular Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Mascara, which costs £29. Opting for Aldi's version would save shoppers £24.01.
The only criticism from Safia was that it's not waterproof. She said: "A good waterproof mascara won't transfer and run down your face or go onto your eyelids and make you look like a panda."
There are plenty of other affordable of mascaras on the market currently. Superdrug is selling Maybelline Colossal Mascara Limited Edition Platinum for £4, and MUA's Volume Mascara for £2.50. At Boots you can get the Collection Fast Stroke Defining Mascara for £2.99. Or for slightly more, Amazon is selling Maybelline's New York Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara for £8.98.
