Boyzone could be about to reunite and embark on a new run of concerts as singers Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch and Keith Duffy and Westlife's Brian McFadden join forces to become the face of a football club. National League North side Chorley say they are in negotiations with the Irish pop stars to become shareholders.
The band will reportedly be at Saturday's (Feb 10) home game against Solihull in the FA Trophy to officially seal the deal. Not only this, but the group is planning on performing on a number of dates at the Lancashire club's ground, sparking rumours of a new tour.
Confirming the news to The Mirror, Shane said: "I'm really looking forward to the weekend, we've got lots of exciting things in the pipeline. Really buzzing to attend the game on Saturday with some of the boys, it should be a really good year ahead. We're all excited to see what the future brings and what we've got planned."
Chorley's Victory Park ground holds 4,100 supporters and the team currently lie sixth in National League North. A statement from Chorley read: "This is a game-changer that has the potential to bring our town into the limelight like never before, generating a buzz and publicity that will shine a bright light on Chorley and the local area."
The band reuniting comes six years after Keating said Boyzone would not be getting back together following a tour and album in 2018. Keating, thought to be at the heart of the new venture with Chorley FC, previously said: "We had 25 great years.... We wrote the last chapter ourselves.
"Finishing it the way we did after 25 years was the right thing. We went out on a high, we had five great nights at the Palladium."
Boyzone is currently the subject of a documentary focussing on the group's rapid rise to fame. The involvement with the football club is also set to feature in another upcoming programme, The Mirror reports.
Formed in 1993 by music mogul Louis Walsh, he sent out an advertisement in Irish newspapers for auditions for a new boyband. Since forming, the group have sold over 25 million records worldwide, with six UK No.1 singles and nine No.1 singles in Ireland.
