A behind-the-scenes look at Disney's Aladdin at Wales Millennium Centre

Disney's Aladdin is the WMC in Cardiff's big Christmas show for 2023 and we've had a sneak peek behind the curtain

A high-energy scene from Aladdin

If there's one glitzy and glamorous show to see this Christmas it's Disney's Aladdin at the Wales Millennium Centre. Adapted from Disney’s 1992 animated film which starred Robin Williams, and centuries-old folktales including One Thousand and One Nights, this smash-hit musical is brought to theatrical life in full colour and sound this Christmas.

And we took a look behind the scenes at some of the costumes and sets, which you can see below. The UK and Ireland tour of Disney’s Aladdin stars Yeukayi Ushe (Disney’s The Lion King, A Strange Loop, Kinky Boots and Motown The Musical) as Genie and introduces Gavin Adams as Aladdin. Desmonda Cathabel (Miss Saigon, From Here to Eternity) will play Jasmine.

Aladdin is designed by seven-time Tony-winning scenic designer Bob Crowley, seven-time Tony-winning lighting designer Natasha Katz, two-time Tony-winning costume designer Gregg Barnes and sound designer Ken Travis. It will of course feature songs from Alan Menken's brilliant soundtrack from the 1990s cartoon with classics like A Whole New World, Friend Like Me and Arabian Nights.
