Welsh TV presenter Gethin Jones has made a cheeky confession this Valentine's Day about the number of cards he recieved. Days after his 46th birthday, Cardiff presenter Gethin and his Morning Live co-host Michelle Ackerley wished each other a happy Valentine's Day, before he shared his card count on February 14.
Gethin, who's been very open about his single status in recent months, said: "There was a couple of birthday cards still in the post box from Monday so I am going to claim those as Valentine's Cards today, if that is alright?" Want less ads? Download WalesOnline’s Premium app on Apple or Android.
A giggling Michelle replied "yeah, yeah, sure, sure" while Gethin said he still had two birthday cards left over. Recently Gethin opened up about joining dating apps at the start of 2024, while on Morning Live. You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.

Candidly opening up about his own experience of dating apps, Gethin shared: "Well my friend put me on a dating app last year, I wasn't really sure about it, but I have to say, this week there's been like quite a few..." "Has your inbox been crammed?" Michelle then interjected. "Yes," Gethin admitted, before adding: "New year looking for love, I think that's the idea."
He has also spoken very openly about his "awful" split from his former fiancee Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins in recent months. He opened up about the 2011 break-up on The Mirror's Tom Bryant's Outdoors in Mind podcast in support of the Hats On For Mind campaign.
Gethin and Katherine became engaged in February 2011 but announced they were no longer together the following December with simultaneous statements on Twitter saying they were heartbroken. Gethin didn't go into the specifics of what happened, only that it played out against a backdrop of depression.
He said he felt he was "in a rut" and "just couldn't work it out" despite everything looking perfect on the outside. "I was engaged and then breaking up, afterward, or even during that period, it was just awful," he says. "I remember doing BBC Radio 5Live and going into the toilet at 5.30am going, ‘All right. Come on. Just focus for the next three hours, and then you can go back to being sad again.’ I definitely had a bad bout of depression during that time."
You can see Gethin on Morning Live weekdays on BBC One and iPlayer.
